Zojirushi Tuff Sports Stainless Steel Vacuum Bottle

I was looking between these and the Stanley ones which are slightly cheaper. I decided on this one after realizing the quality seemed to be a bit better even though the price was about 10% more. Well i’m really glad. This is an amazing device. I fill it with water for my tea and i leave the cap off of it and 45 minutes later it is still too hot to drink. I filled it up at 9am and by 6pm it was still hot as i’d want it. It’s really amazing. Very easy to use and sturdy. The only complaint i would have is in a perfect world it would fit into my cars cupholder but i can’t expect a vacuum bottle of this size to fit in a cup holder so it’s not really a complaint.

I owned an older Zojirushi model for 20 years, used it everyday, and it was outstanding. It wouldn’t break and was virtually indestructable (although I had to repair the bottle seating a couple times with a Permatex gasket sealer). An excellent working man’s coffee holder. The 2-piece plastic screw plug finally became worn and crossthreaded making it unsealable. So I bought this new model.
The new version is lighter and smaller, has a plastic liner vice stainless steel, and has unique gaskets on it that seal well, but are not as universally replaceable as the previous o-rings (did I mention I replaced those too, $. 15 from a local hardware store?). After a month of use its been fine so far, but only 20 years will tell whether its as reliable and survivable as the last model.

It would be a good thermos if the cap wouldn’t leak both liquid and heat. Sometimes when I pour, it likes to come out from underneath the cap making a mess. I have to stop pouring immediately and retighten the cap to make the seal work. But the main gripe I have about this thermos is that it doesn’t keep it any hotter than thermoses I’ve paid half as much for. Go get a Nissan thermos. The cap is one piece. You unscrew it a little to make it pour and it keeps the drink hot longer. This Zoji cap design has too many moving parts and rubber pieces for seals that don’t work very well. I’m thinking of sending mine back.

I have tried it for two days. It keeps boiled water hot. The size of the bottle doesn’t look big but it contains a lot of water that definitely enough for using it in the library for 4 to 5 hours of study.
The bottle is stylish: the push button for opening the small lid to pour the water, and the nice handle is another plus.
The only thing I am not quite sure is the material of the interior bottle. I don’t know whether is steel with special coating to prevent stains, or just plastic which I hope is not. It is an excellent bottle for keeping the water hot for hours.

Purchased the thermos for work/travel because of the unique spout. Was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that it was even more efficient than I had hoped. Excellent product.
