I normally don’t prefer buying any electrinic items that are made in China mainly because of the quality issue. Since Amazon doesn’t specify on most of products listed on its website, there is no way to tell. This item has only been used for a couple months and so far so good. Hope it will last.

Positive reviews are 100% correct regarding this product. We can’t live without it. I do have one thing to say, though. Since it is not a thermal pot, it uses approx 90 watts to maintain a constant water temperature. I bought an International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor here on Amazon and this was the first product that I measured. My plugged in laptop only generated 40 watts of power. . . . half of what this pot generates in standby mode. It comes in at 731 watts to boil water (my toaster takes 457 watts). We use the timer feature at night, but keep it on all day. So, figuring 16 hours of standby use and throwing in an average of three boils a day, we figure that it costs approx $12-15 per month to operate. We COULD take it off standby mode when not in use, but then it takes longer to boil. . . . catch 22.
Bottom line? The product is so darn good at what it does, that we are willing to forgive the energy consumption cost.

We use the Zojirushi water kettle every day.
I purchased it because I was tired of waiting for 2 liters (quarts) of water to boil in the stove-top tea kettle every morning when preparing coffee. We prefer our coffee freshly ground and brewed through a Melita funnel, so we need 2 liters hot but not boiling.
The Zojirushi kettle instantly provides the hot water at just the right temperature (208′F) so I can make a pot of 6 cups in the time it takes to grind the coffee and fill the funnel with hot water (funnel and filter size is number 6) . The kettle is just the right height so I can easily slide the pot and funnel under the pour spout. The two pour speeds are handy. I use the slow speed to get the grounds wet (if too fast at first, the grounds float on the hot water in the funnel) then switch to high speed to finish the job. Can brew a pot in about 4 or 5 minutes! Also, I don’t waste heated water like I did by boiling too much water in the teapot.
It’s so nice to offer guests a hot cup of tea or coffee so quickly.
I refill the kettle easily, even if it is only half empty, by quickly disconnecting the power cord (it’s attached magnetically, so just slide the kettle away and the cord detaches), and moving it near the sink so I can use the sink spray hose to fill it with cold water. The lid is hinged so you don’t worry about what to do with the hot-steamy lid after opening the kettle. The Zojirushi kettle heats water fast!. . . That cute little song it plays to notify you it’s ready seems to play just a few minutes after I refill it.
It’s also a sure-fire conversation piece when guest see you prepare their hot drink!

I recently went on vacation where I checked into three different hotels. I toted this magic urn with me to them all. (It has a nifty handle that makes carrying easy. )
Not only does it heat water to three different temperatures, it de-chlorinates the water. I live in Arizona where tap water tastes especially nasty. Before my Zojirushi, I had to buy buy bottled water for drinking, cooking and tea making. After my Zojirushi, I just fill pitchers with ice, pour the hot water over it, and I have delicious, room-temperature water. Then, I fill it again to have hot water for tea always at the ready.
Maintenance is sometimes a drag, but easy. Just fill the Zojirushi with water and some form of citric acid (I use reconstituted lemon juice) and hold down the “boil” button. The Zojirushi cleans itself in a few hours.
If my husband would let me, I’d own two because I use it so much I hate to put it out of commission to clean it!
